Stairway to heaven
A spider’s thread
Hangs from the ceiling
Right above my bed.
Every day I notice
How it slides down.
A stairway to heaven
Has been sent to me–I say,
It was thrown to me from above.
Though I’ve lost much weight
And I am just a ghost of who I was
I think that my body
It’s too heavy still
For such a delicate thread.
-My soul, you go ahead.
Tippity-toe! Tippity-toe!
