Song with no answer - Nichita Stănescu
added by: vasysm

Why do I ever love you, dreamy lady
curling round me like smoke or like a vine
around my chest, around my temples,
always tender, so delicate, so wavy?

Why do I ever love you, ginger lady
like a grass blade that cuts in half
the summer moon, tossing it into waters,
separating it from itself
like two lovers feel right after embracing?...

Why do I ever love you, wistful eye,
a hazel sun rising over my shoulder,
pulling a heaven of scents
with slender clouds without shade?

Why do I ever love you, unforgettable hour
driving around my heart instead of sounds
a herd of foals with their rebel manes?

Why do I ever love you so, my love,
a whirl of seasons coloring a sky
(always another, always close to mine)
like a leaf falling down... Like a hazy breath in the rime.
